Teen Girl Bedroom Makeover

My daughter just turned 15 and was in desperate need of a more grown-up room! I let her choose the color scheme and she definitely wanted black & white. Neon was the focal point that she wanted in her room. When lit up, it is a peachy, pink neon wall art that matches her bedding. Bella and I loved redecorating her room together!

The Details

Paint: We decided to go with a black and white horizontal striped accent wall. Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams is the white we chose to paint all four walls. After the room was painted white, we used this green frog tape to make the lines on the accent wall. We used Onyx Black for the stripes.

Bedding: Since black and white can be stark, we knew we needed to add another color. We chose this beautiful light pink Emily & Merritt Parisian Petticoat Quilt and Shams from Pottery Barn Teen and it was just what we needed for a pop of color. It also added a French flair which is a theme that we have traditionally loved for our home. Bella loved these black and white heart sheets and they were perfect. This striped bedskirt added to the theme.

Peony Details

Furniture: Bella was in desperate need of storage space for swimsuits, socks, accessories and jewelry. We chose these nightstands from target that had plenty of storage. In order to keep her jewelry organized, we purchased these jewelry trays from Amazon for her bottom nightstand drawer. We did not purchase a new dresser, but we did need to update her old one. We purchased this drawer hardware in gold from Amazon for both her dresser and her nightstand. Keeping with the Parisian theme, we chose this tufted headboard for Bella’s room.

We added new hardware to her childhood dresser and a vintage looking mirror

Window Treatments: Before the room makeover, we had blinds on Bella’s windows and I have a confession to make about blinds…I HATE dusting blinds. I have been on a mission to replace all of the blinds in our home, with room darkening curtain panels that can simply be open and shut. I would rather throw curtains into a washer than dusting those blinds weekly. Amazon is my favorite place to purchase curtains. They have a variety of sizes and offer room darkening options which was a must for Bella’s room. These black and white wide striped curtains worked really well. We have 8 foot ceilings and wanted the curtains to go from floor to ceiling, so we chose the 96″ length. We chose these gold curtain rods from Target and they worked well with the panels.

Those curtains!

Accents & Other Decor: This Neon was the focal point of Bella’s room makeover. It says Relax which is exactly what Bella likes to do when she is hanging out in her room. When it’s lit is a light pink that matches her bedding. Since gold was her accent color, we chose several gold pieces such as this mirror from Kirkland’s (which is a less expensive dupe for this Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose mirror)! These gold and pink lamps were perfect for on top of her nightstands.

The perfect place for Bella to “Relax”
