Quarantine Spa Party

If your birthday is in the month of April, like my baby girl, then Happy Belated Birthday! April is a tricky month to plan birthdays since the weather can be so unpredictable. Everyone is eager to get outside, but our climate here in WV is still pretty chilly, so I usually plan Bianca’s birthday parties indoors. Since a spa theme can be used for kids and adults alike I wanted to share what we did! If you have done something like this yourself, leave your ideas in the comments below!

Theme & Guest List

We had big plans for her birthday this year…then the quarantine happened! Even though our plans changed, I still wanted to make this a birthday she would always remember. When planning a party I first start with the theme and color scheme. Since Bianca is super girly, I thought a spa theme would be perfect! The color scheme I chose was a variety of bright colors including: bright blue, purple, and peach. Next, I plan the guest list and realized that this year-there were no guests! the party actually served as a great distraction, since we have been so worried about families and friends during this time. After the theme and guest lists are settled, I plan my party with three things in mind: food, activities, and decor.

Food & Activities

While Bianca was asleep, my daughter Bella and I turned our kitchen into a spa. We decided on strawberry cupcakes and used cucumbers for the toppers. We use a cake stand similar to this one, to make the cupcakes a party feature that really stands out. Bianca loves infused water, so we decided it would be perfect for her spa party if we included some ice water with her favorite fruits infused. We used oranges, lemons and strawberries. For our parties, we like our beverage to be displayed in clear acrylic, which adds to the beauty of the decor. I always use this one for my parties. We decided that her spa day activities would include: a foot massage, a pedicure, a hair appointment, a facial, manicure, and makeup! Bella had the idea to turn our kitchen sink and a tall chair into a salon hair washing station. We placed a “birthday surprise” bath bomb in her foot massage water. When it was completely dissolved, there was a surprise in the water. You can find the bath bombs, here!

The best part…DECOR!

We bought our decor ahead of time from amazon, target, and ordered some printable decor from Etsy. This pom-pom garland tied our color scheme together. Since Bianca’s favorite color is lavender, we decided on this birthday banner from Amazon. I looked everywhere online and couldn’t find a spa banner, so I decided to use this printable pendant party banner, found here! At each station, we placed a sign: pedicure, manicure, makeup, facial, and massage. You can find printable signs, here! Target is a great place to shop for disposable plates with a festive look. We chose three to stack: this blue and gold one on the bottom, then this purple one and finally this peach one for the top! These gold utensils, really make the party look festive. Placing menus on top of each place setting always makes for a classic look. You can find the printable spa menus, here. Bianca received the royal treatment and we all had a day that we will never forget!
